Rarely do you encounter so much wisdom in such a young soul.
We sat down with artist, activist, model, and creator Alain Gakwaya last week at a studio in San Antonio’s Arts District to learn more about his awe-inspiring approach to creativity and expression. As we spoke, it became clear that Alain is someone who finds a way to have an immediate positive impact on those around him, whether a new friend, old friend, or a literal hitchhiker.
“The advice I’d give young creators is to listen to people’s opinions less and spend more energy on things that you genuinely love. Taking care of our mental health as adolescents can help us avoid a lot of problems we encounter as adults. Focus on the things that make you happy.”
